A SPA DAY WITH THE GIRLS
When an invitation for a spa day with yoga and afternoon tea popped into my inbox from
Spa Seekers, I obviously couldn't resist. I'd never been to an actual spa before, unless you count turning my bedroom or bathroom into my own personal spa (like in my The Perfect Valentines Pamper Evening post). You can bet that I will be arranging more spa days in the future, hopefully quaterly so I can have a nice relax 4 times a year. I trotted down to the Radisson Blu in Canary Wharf on the 8th February in collaboration with Spa Seekers as part of their 'Love yourself' campaign for Valentines and holy crap did it make me feel amazing about myself. While I'm normally quite hesitant to let new people see me in a swimsuit I was more than happy to spend the day in a one piece with a robe over (which more often of than not come undone because they're massive).
While I missed the yoga session thanks to SWR we were able to use the gym, which I used as an opportunity to stretch out before going to afternoon tea and then an afternoon of pampering. With views of the O2 arena, its a hidden jem in a part of London which is known for its tall glass buildings and businessmen.

THE AFTERNOON TEA
What millennial doesn't love afternoon tea? Actually, what person doesn't love afternoon tea? I mean finger sandwiches and more cakes than you could ever eat... don't forget the scones (is it scone like gone or scone like cone?) I love nothing more than going to out for a nice afternoon tea with friends or family. It's like a nice picnic but inside. The afternoon tea offered at the Radisson Blu in Canary Wharf is amazing, other than the fact they put ham and beef sandwhiches on my plate and I'm pestaterian...oops. There was plenty on offer and they just seemed to keep bringing more up, you could quite easily put on a pound or two just from the sandwhiches before you even get started on the sweet treats.
Cakes were not short of supply either, with a large range to select from and I must say the chocolate brownie (at least I think it was some sort of brownie) was my favourite, rich and sweet but not to the point you feel sick. Obviously, scones are an important part of afternoon tea and these were perfect, there appeared to be a mixture of fruit and plain scones, fresh clotted cream as well as mini pots of jam so you could pick your favourite flavour. The only issue I had was that they were super crumbly which made adding the cream and jam a mission (but I managed and demolished two scones...sorry waistline).
Let's not forget just how photographic it is, I think we all snapped away for a good 15/20 minutes before starting to eat...there were just too many insta perfect moments to go to waste. At least we were all bloggers or Instagrammers, so there wasn't anyone desperate to eat the food before all the photographs were taken.

How could I resist taken 100+ photographs of this stunning arrangement?
THE TREATMENT
Working at a laptop for 80% of a week along with a couple of ballet classes a week quickly creates tension and knots in my back...so obviously I opted to have a back massage and holy crap did I make the right decision. The only back massages I've every previously have been from friends or a physio so getting one done professionally was amazing. The therapist I had was absolutely amazing and she focused on my upper back and shoulders, which is where I often hold a lot of tension and as the treatment went on I could feel it just melting away. She used a combination of hot oil on the skin as well as a hot towel towards the end of the treatment. I felt so sleepy afterwards, and it's probably the most relaxed I've been since the summer. After the treatment was over we went to sit in the relaxation room...although it's probably best that nobody else was in there because we weren't doing a lot of relaxing; lots of photos instead were being taken. Do us bloggers ever actually stop working?

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Overall I had an amazing day and I'll be looking into other Radisson Blu hotels to see what sort of facilities they have, as while Canary Wharf was beautiful the only downside was that there was no pool or jacuzzi...but none the less if you're looking for a nice relax I'd definitely say to book a day there. I know I'm tempted to book another treatment for just after my dissertation and ballet exam...sort of a reward and I'll need it after writing 10,000 words.
I don't know how I've managed to go 21 years without visiting an actual spa...especially as there are quite a few in and around Portsmouth so I don't really have an excuse. I've been introduced to a new lifestyle and it's one I'm determined to keep up...I'm all about that champagne lifestyle on a frosty jacks budget. Have you ever visited a spa? Love you lots like jelly tots x
