What’s in my makeup bag

So I’ve been debating ideas for my first blog post, and I’ve decided to go with something very simple and generic…a ‘what’s in my makeup bag’. Although I don’t have a massive selection, I have more than what I could use at once, so I like to have my favourite products stored in my large Ted Baker wash bag, so I can easily grab them when getting ready in the morning. If you want to see a more up-to-date version of the kind of things I keep in my makeup bag, you’ll want to read 5 Things You Need To Try From The Drugstore

So let’s start with my base, I love to use the No7 Colour Calming Primer, particularly in the summer as I tend to find that my face gets red and blotchy, and this just corrects everything into an even base, while not blocking my pores. I then apply the Rimmel BB cream in ‘very light’, I often struggle to find drugstore foundations to fit my skin tone as I do run on the fairer side, but I tend to find that if I apply this with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, I can create medium coverage. My go-to concealer at the moment is the Miss Sporty Perfect Stay 10-hour concealer in ‘light’, just to cover up any blemishes or imperfections I may have. Finally, to set everything into place, I just use the No7 perfect light loose powder in the shade ‘translucent’. Personally, I prefer loose powders to set powders because I find they are lighter on my face and don’t make my makeup appear cakey. I don’t tend to use blush, contour or highlight on a daily basis as I tend to find I don’t require it.

Moving on to eyes, this is where I really like to have fun. I recently purchased the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette, and it’s safe to say I am completely head over heels in love with it. My most used shades are ‘High’, ‘Armor’, ‘Password’, ‘Whisky’ and ‘Thirteen’. I do, however use all of the colours from this palette for different occasions, but I find they are long-lasting, highly pigmented and blend really well because they’re nice and soft. I often use the Lancome kohl eyeliner in ‘Gris Bleu,’ which is a very pretty grey with a slight blue tone to it, and with my brown eyes, I feel it makes them look warmer and not so dark and dull. Finally, for mascara, I use the Barry M Showgirl mascara in ‘extra lengthening black’. Before applying this, I do use eyelash curlers, but the results are amazing, and I don’t feel as though I’m inclined to apply false lashes with this particular mascara. I’ll also pop eyebrows in here as I only use one product, and that is the Clarins eyebrow pencil in ’02 light brown’. I used to be terrified of brow pencils because I always thought my brows would end up looking like they’d been drawn on with a Sharpie. This product is a different story, though. It’s nice and soft, which means you don’t have to press extremely hard to get a good colour payoff. There is also a brush at one end, which I use to brush my brows into the shape I want.

As for lips, I currently tend to reach for one of my Mac lipsticks. My current favourites are ‘Men Love Mystery‘ and ‘Velvet Teddy‘, they are both matte finishes and although I find ‘Velvet Teddy’ a lot more drying, ‘Men Love Mystery’ is nicer if I’ve gone for a bolder eye look. The pigment for both of them is amazing, and they both wear quite well, although ‘Men Love Mystery’ is a lot more obvious when it needs re-application due to the fact that it is a blue-toned purple, whereas ‘Velvet Teddy’ is a ‘your lips but better’ kind of colour. I find that I don’t need to wear a lip liner with either of them, as they don’t tend to bleed around the edge, and if I wish to overdraw my lips with them, I can.

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into what makeup I wear on an everyday basis, and if you use any of these products let me know! Also if there’s any you think I should try out that I’m missing out on do tell me because I love switching up my makeup.

Love you lots like jelly tots x
