• Time To De-Stress

    Everything Comes With Stress

It’s reaching that time of year where deadlines are looming, days are dragging and for some reason, nothing seems to be going right no matter how hard you try…I personally blame the lack of sun but that’s just my personal opinion. Therefore it’s important to take some time during the week in which you can just unwind and focus on yourself, after all, illness likes to strike when you’re at your weakest and nobody likes being stuck in bed with the flu!

As a student I find the days don’t seem to be as long as they were back at the start of the term although we are quickly about to start a new term, I’m in a constant need for coffee and up to my eyeballs in essays that need to be written or reading that needs to be completed. This means that it is important that I do actually take my time to myself for the sake of my sanity and something I love to do is have a pamper evening in which I turn my phone off, put on my favourite film (or a tv series that I’m watching…currently it’s Game of Thrones) and just allow myself to be alone. I find it’s important to do this at least once a month, in which I do a deep pamper including a hair mask, face mask, nails and cuticle masks as well as a deep cleanse on my face.

Personally I enjoy reading a magazine while wearing a face mask as it’s not as annoying if my timer goes off while I’m halfway through and article rather than the irritation I get when I have to stop reading a book to do something else…it’s like a cliffhanger that the author didn’t place there. At the moment I’m slowly making my way through Blogosphere magazine as it’s really helped to bring back my mojo for blogging. I often find that my bloggers’ block tends to disappear after I’ve had an evening of de-stressing as I’m able to put everything back into a context which means all the stuff I was originally worried about is no longer a concern to me. I love to give me face a deep cleanse before I apply a face mask and I currently love the Amphora Aromatics Rosemary and Olive Deep Cleansing Oil* (£7.98) and I find this removes a lot of the product build up that I gain on my face, as well as removing all the dirt that I often miss while removing my makeup while half asleep (problems with working late nights) and therefore I’ve found my skin hasn’t been in the best condition recently, however, this is slowly helping it to improve. I find an oil is better for this time of year as I have extremely dry skin and the cold weather just doesn’t help at all, therefore an oil is the best way to restore moisture back into my face. You do have to be careful that you don’t over do it though or else it can cause spots, therefore I recommend using another cleanser alongside a cleansing oil.

The most important thing you can do while going on a de-stress though is concentrate on yourself, block anything else out as that can wait, you and your mental health cannot. I’m known to take ‘mental health’ days or weekends or even sometimes weeks in which I simply relax, take a break from social media and the internet and just re-evaluate what I am and if I’m going in the right direction for me. During these breaks, I also like to eat healthily, only drink water and make sure I get at least 8 hours sleep a night, and I find after taking a break I’m back to myself and back to conquer anything life throws at me.

What are your favourite ways or products you use to de-stress? Is there any advice you have for others on ways to de-stress that I might not have mentioned?
