Who said white was just for brides?
Now I’m someone that loves to wear the colour black, as well as the occasional pop of colour…but when it comes to summer white makes it’s way into my wardrobe. It’s the perfect colour especially when there’s a heat wave brewing. I’m sure we all learned in science that white reflects heat whereas black absorbs so it just makes sense to reach for the lighter colours when the heat increases. As we’re currently heading towards a heatwave
or so they say…I’m not going to hold my breath, I’ll be reaching for lightweight dresses more and more, especially now I picked up a pair of chub rub shorts! Anyone else feel my pain with the chub rub?
A few years ago you’d never catch me in white or a dress…let alone a white dress. Simply because I didn’t like how my legs looked and I thought I was too pale to wear white. Now I’ve learnt to love my curves and embrace how pale I am
a little fake tan never hurt anyone…or a real tan as is the case in these photos, now I love wearing a good dress. You’ll probably notice quite a few of my outfits I’ve recently posted have featured dresses…they’re a favourite of mine along with a good jumpsuit. Both of which take barely any styling in order to look nice and put together. Just what you want when it’s 30+ degrees outside. One thing good about dresses is that if they’re short enough you can go for a paddle in the sea without fearing of wet clothing!
A brand I used to love shopping from was Boohoo, but when I couldn’t change my postal address I complete forgot about them
even though I was still obliviously ordering Boohoo items from ASOS but my god do they have some stunning dresses available right now. I fell absolutely head over heels with this Aztec Ribbon Skater Dress* even if I did have to order a size up because it has no stretch in the fabric! I felt absolutely amazing in it, and despite the long sleeves I didn’t actually over heat despite it being 28 degrees while shooting these photos.
I’ve done a couple of these ‘seasonal essential’ posts now with my most recent being The Spring Essential | Check Blazer

In the past white wasn’t really a colour I leant towards, I was always terrified that everything would end up see-through. I know this is a particular issue with the white jeans I own…I have to be so careful with what underwear I wear and because I wear everything high waisted with tops tucked in I can’t even hide it with a long top.
A white t-shirt has always been a go-to for me so I don’t quite know why I haven’t really branched into white dresses…until now. Now I have quite a few white dresses and I love every single one of them. Ranging from day suitable styles all the way through to a lace self-portrait inspired number which I’ll be wearing to graduation next month.
