Sorry for a bit of an absence from my blog, I’ve been super busy with other things and I’ve had to put my blog on the back burner for a little bit, I was feeling guilty about not making a post in nearly two weeks so here’s something new for you to sink your teeth into, it’s The Blogger Recognition Tag! I’ve got an extremely exciting month coming up in March which includes two events which I have been invited to…of course there will be posts to follow regarding these events~how is it nearly March though I swear it was JUST Christmas yet we are nearly at Easter!
First of all, I really want to thank Rhaea for tagging me in this post…she just understands my love for tag posts, plus they’re nice posts to break up all the beauty and sex posts! So there are a few rules which needed to be followed and the are:
✓ Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
✓ Write a post to show your award
✓ Give a brief story of how your blog started
✓ Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
✓ Select 15 bloggers you want to give this award to
✓ Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them, providing a link to the post you created
How my blog started
If you’ve been reading my blog since the start then you’ll be aware that my blog was the product of meeting Gabriella Lindley and her trying to persuade me to start a Youtube channel however I didn’t/don’t have the confidence to do that however I still wanted to have a creative outlet and a place where I could talk about the things I loved, this lead to starting Aesthetic Obsessed…which will be staying just a blog for quite a while, I’m still not ready to expand to Youtube…maybe at some point I will though. I’ve always enjoyed writing since I was a child and having a blog meant I had a place where I could go to de-stress from uni and it was my own personal space on the internet in which nobody could dictate what I could write or say. Since starting my blog I’ve fallen in love with blogging and the blogging community, and the fact that people actually reading my ramblings makes me extremely happy and is a great encouragement to keep going, as well as all the amazing opportunities I am starting to receive.
Some advice to new bloggers:
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t receive a lot of page views, in the beginning, everyone struggled to get traffic and readers when we first started out…even a year later I feel my stats slacking to other blogs, but if you get discouraged by people not reading or clicking on your blog then you need to re-evaluate why you are running a blog, is it for you or do you see it as an ‘easy’ job. Also, socialise with other bloggers, chat with them on social media, comment on their posts (with something relevant to the post) and join in blogger chats on Twitter. Although the blogging community is extremely welcoming to everyone you have to actually put yourself out there before you can expect anyone to talk to you~ going to blogger events is also a good way to actually meet bloggers in person, and don’t be scared of attending these alone after all everyone’s going to be slightly nervous but I’ve not been able to walk up to them and strike up a conversation, after all, there is always the topic of blogging that you will have in common.
