MAKING THE BIG MOVE
I’m 21 now and I’m currently only a few a months away from finishing university for good. This means I’m about to move out of student accommodation and have to make the decision as to where I’m going to move next. This most likely thing will be to move back into my Mum’s for a couple of months until I can save up enough money from working to afford my own place. Although the fact this probably won’t happen for a few months yet hasn’t put me off already looking at flats to rent. As much as I would love to stay living in London, it just isn’t realistic and I’ll most likely move into somewhere back in Portsmouth…since I do love living by the sea. It’s obviously going to be quite a big jump from living in student accommodation for 3 years to living by myself, but I honestly cannot wait for it to happen, I’ve always been independent and now I can’t wait to have my own space.
DECORATING IT MY WAY
So over the summer my mum and I decorated our flat, and while I did take control over that I couldn’t quite make it exactly how I wanted. Now when I move I can let my love for interior run wild and put all the Pinterest inspiration into play
keeping it in my price limit though. I would like to find a 2 bedroom place simply so that I can have a separate bedroom and office/ wardrobe since one day I am hoping to take my blog full time. One thing I’d absolutely love to have is wooden floors although this probably is plausible until many years down the road when I can start looking for somewhere to buy.
I absolutely adore white walls and wooden floors, I just think it makes such a good base and if you want to change your colour scheme you don’t have to worry about re-painting anything. I’m still absolutely in love with how my bedroom at my Mum’s looks (Pinterest Vomited On My Room).
MOVE AROUND THE COUNTRY
Nowadays it’s not uncommon for people to live away from where they grew up, or where their family is. While I said I’d love to stay in London or go back to Portsmouth, I’d also love to explore living somewhere new. Brighton has always had a slight appeal to me, it combines both the hustle and bustle of London while also being by the sea. I’d obviously have to compare the cost of living, the transport links and what sort of property are available in my price range…but I’d certainly be open to looking around properties around the country. Plus with renting it’s likely my contract will only be 12 months, so nothing is stopping me from living in multiple different locations for the next couple of years until I find somewhere I want to settle down full-time.
ENTERING THE ADULT WORLD
I’m an actual adult now and as much as I love my Mum to pieces I couldn’t live with her full time again…not for ages anyway. Plus I’m super excited to start a new chapter of my life away from university and just being able to do my own thing, pay my own bills and just be an active member of society.
The adult world seems both inviting and terrifying at the same time, but you best believe I’m looking forward to taking it on…although I’ll probably fall flat on my face at least once, everyone makes mistakes when they try something new. I’ll be trying adulting which isn’t quite the same as a new hobby.
Do you live alone or are you planning on moving out anytime soon?
Love you lots like jelly tots
