If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack
Call me basic but I love nothing more than a dark plum or berry lip as the autumnal months hit. I mean who doesn’t and it means I get to dig into a part of my lipstick collection that I tend to stay away from for the rest of the year…except on the rare occasion I fancy a darker lip. If you want to know about My Favourite Season: Autumn I briefly spoke about how much I love dark lips.
I’m a self-confessed lipstick addict, my collection continues to grow and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of shopping for new lipstick shades…I’m always on the hunt for different shades to what I already have. So what better place to share my favourite autumnal lipsticks than on my blog with other people that love all things lipstick and autumn related?
Glo & Ray Rouge Stick in Black Corydalis* (£9.90)
Now you may know I worked with The Brand You Need To Try: Glo & Ray a few months ago, and since then I’ve been lucky to recieve their full collection of Rouge sticks…all of which have colours suitable for autumn. This shade in particular just screams autumn to me, it a dark berry shade but it’s more of a cool red berry shade opposed to a purple berry. It’s also a matte shade but sits extremely comfortable on the lips and I don’t find it drys my lips out at all (and I suffer with extremely dry lips so always a positive)…plus it’s a purse friendly price as well. Always a useful thing if you like buying lipsticks like me.
Glo & Ray Rouge Stick in Regal Tulip* (£9.90)
Another Glo & Ray rouge stick, except this is more of a red shade. It looks stunning on the lips and barely budges throughout the day. I absolutely adore this shade and while it hasn’t replaced my all time favourite red lipstick, it is one that I reach for if I don’t want to take a MAC lipstick with me on a night out.
Nothing more heartbreaking than losing your favourite MAC lipstick.
Collection Velvet Kiss in Mulberry (£2.99)
Now if you’re more a fan of a sheer lip colour then this will be right up your street, it’s also nice and purse friendly. This creates more of a ‘I’ve just been sucking on an ice lolly’ sort of colour and pigmentation opposed to being extremely heavy and full of pigment. While this has a matte finished, it doesn’t dry down to the point it doesn’t budge (trust me after going out for a meal I ended up with this round my face) but for £2.99 I don’t really complain. Rather than being a liquid lipstick this is more of a whipped formula…and it smells like vanilla cupcakes.
Rimmel Moisture Renew in Sloane’s Plum (discontinued)
This lipstick was mentioned back last year in my Top 5 Drugstore Lipsticks and it’s still a strong favourite of mine. I’m gutted it’s been discontinued and I’m always on the hunt for a replacement. Now it’s a very similar shade to Black Corydalis however they have two different finishes and this makes them look very different on the lips. I will typically only wear this lipstick if I know I won’t be kissing, eating or drinking during the day otherwise it creates an absolute shit storm of a mess…that nobody has time for.
NYX Lip Lingerie in Teddy (£7.00)
This is the only lip product I’ve tried from NYX, and while I adore the colour I’m not the biggest fan of the formula…it’s a big too drying for my liking. However it’s worth wearing just for the stunning shade, it’s a beautiful dark brown shade that even on my pale skin looks great. It’s darker than my usual nude shade that I would wear but I can’t help but reach for this shade during the autumn. I think there’s something about the darker gloomier days that bring out the teenage emo kid in me.
Thank heaven’s I’m not in that stage anymore because it was not a good look for me
What are your favourite lip colours for autumn? Do you love to rock a dark berry or plum lip or do you prefer sticking to a nude or something else entirely?
Love you lots like jelly tots x
