The Right Palette Can Change A Girls Life

Palettes are one of my favourite things to buy…second to lipsticks, however, I have a small collection of palettes which I reach for on a regular basis; some of which are popular high-end favourites while others are drugstore gems. I love nothing more than a good palette, or 2 or 3 or 15. I’m a massive fan of trying new eyeshadow looks, but I’m also a culprit of buying palettes with very similar colours in them, or because someone has recommended it to me and therefore I’ve gone in and picked it up but never used it.

    MakeUp Revolution Iconic 3 (£4.00)-

This palette is an exact dupe of the Urban Decay Naked 1, I love the copper and bronze shadows and find they are absolutely perfect for autumn/winter. There is a mixture of shimmers and mattes which means it’s great for creating multiple eye looks in one handy palette. You can create looks that a suitable for both casual daytimes; as well as dramatic nighttime looks. The only issue I have with this palette is that over time it has lost its pigmentation and the shadows have become harder to work with, but it’s nothing that a bit of Mac Fix+ cannot fix or even just a splash of water on your brush before application.

    Too Faced Cat Eye (£35.00)-

I picked this palette up in TK Maxx recently and have been obsessed with it since, particularly the shades Purr, Tiger’s Eye, Meow and Panther. This is the first Too Faced palette I have owned and judging by the quality I am excited to purchase some more. The pigmentation of these shadows is great, although I do find they have quite a bit of fallout, but despite this, they feel very soft on the lid and blend out well. My main issue with this palette is the lack of matte shadows that can be used in the crease or as a transition colour, so it does mean that I have to use another shadow, so it isn’t necessarily the best palette for travelling unless you love shimmery eye looks.

    Makeup Revolution Flawless (£8.00)-

This palette was my first ever purchase from Makeup Revolution and what led me to fall in love with the entire brand, especially their palettes. Within in this palette, you can find a range of colours all of which are all extremely wearable on a regular basis; including a mixture of mattes and shimmers (although it is heavier on the shimmers), all of which are extremely blendable. I think the shades in this palette can be worn by any eye colour as you have neutrals, pinks, bronzes, cranberries and some slightly more smoky shadows…with the massive mirror also included then this is the perfect palette for travelling with.

    Urban Decay Naked Smoky (£38.50)-

My all-time favourite palette is the Naked Smoky, it’s the best investment I’ve ever made, I always reach for it while doing my makeup as it has the perfect matte shadows for transition colours; as well as shimmers that look stunning on the lid. As well as this it also has the perfect inner corner and brow bone highlight which I find makes my eyes pop perfectly. Although this palette has quite a high price tag it is certainly worth every penny spent and although the shades may seem slightly intimidating to someone not experienced with makeup, they’re extremely blendable and highly pigmented; meaning they require very little work to look good.

After writing this post I picked up the MAC Warm Neutrals Palette and it’s so amazing I just had to write a whole post about it…and even a year later after purchase it’s still my go-to palette more so than some of the others I’ve mentioned!
Love you lots like jelly tots x
