Can you believe that we’re only one sleep away from Christmas? I swear this month has just flown by and I feel so underprepared…even though I know I’m sorted…at least I hope I am. I don’t think I’ll ever feel fully prepared for Christmas, even though I’ve had more than a fair few Christmas in life. Although there are some new additions and changes to this Christmas, ones I’m excited to make and to expierence, guess you could say I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and creating what could become new traditions.
Drink lots of hot chocolate
What is a cosy night in without lots of hot chocolate? If you know me then you know I’ll drink at least one or two hot chocolates a day, normally one in the morning and then one in the evening…or just whenever I’m cold. To me, the best hot chocolate is the classic Cadbury stir in milk one, although I do have a peanut butter one from Wittards that is a nice mix up every now and then. While I do love to add whip cream to the top of my hot chocolate, I tend not to do this in the run up to or on Christmas Eve after all I’m about to spend at least 2 days eating just about everything in sight.
Mince pies and custard
I absolutely adore mince pies, and I would totally be up for eating them all year round…except that would ruin them for Christmas time. Now I must admit I’m super fussy when it comes to mince pies, probably due to the fact that I spent so many years baking them ready for a family gathering on Boxing Day. Therefore I typically only buy M&S all butter mince pies, since there’s no way I should eat more than 6 mince pies in the space of a couple of days. Obviously, they’re tasty to eat on their own but adding custard to them just takes them up to a whole different level and transforms them from a snack into a dessert.
Bubble bath with Lush’s Magic Wand
I picked this beauty up a couple of months ago, but I haven’t used it yet since I went back to uni and then decided to save it for Christmas Eve. This wand smells exactly like Snow Fairy, this is probably one of my all-time favourite Lush scents along with The Comforter and it creates the most amazing bubbles, you can be sure that I’ll be stocking up asap to last me throughout the rest of the year.
Is it really Christmas Eve if you don’t pop on a pair of new PJs? It’s the perfect way to feel cosy and to get excited for the morning, after all, it’s basically an early present. I was tempted to pop my new PJs on yesterday just to feel super cosy, but I restrained from it and now I can’t wait to pop them on after my bath.
This year I’ve not watched a single Christmas film yet…that means I’ll be binge-watching them all in one go…because yanno, gotta get in that Christmas spirit. I mean I created a list of 4 Christmas Films To Watch so it’d be pretty bad if I didn’t at least watch a couple off here. Especially Elf, a film which never fails to put me in the ultimate Christmas mood. A film that comes second to the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special.
This year there is a slight addition to my Christmas plans, I’m heading off to see Sam and his family on Boxing Day… this means I’ll need to pack up a suitcase with their presents in and the clothing I need. While I’d normally take an overnight bag, I’ll be heading back to uni for a couple of days to give me some time to concentrate on my essay so I’ll be gone for just under a week in total so a suitcase will probably be the best option.
Are you a homebody or like to go out and party on Christmas Eve?
Love you lots like jelly tots x
