Winter is coming
If you know me personally, you’ll know I’m literally always freezing cold. Even as I’m writing this post I’m laying in bed with a feather duvet and fluffy Primark blanket on with the heating on full and still kind of chilly. Therefore as the weather gets colder, and we step further away My Favourite Season: Autumn, I typically care a lot less about what I look like and instead focus on being extremely warm and cosy…until I discovered that faux fur coats were back in fashion.
Now I remember being in year 2 at school (so roughly 14 years ago) and have a black faux fur coat that I would wear everywhere…I even wore it in a show when I was playing a sheep at Christmas time
we didn’t do a nativity but instead, a show about a black sheep that stood out from its white friends and holy crap did I adore that coat.
You can imagine how happy I was when I strolled into Primark a couple of weeks ago and found this stunning black faux fur coat for £30…that’s right it was an extremely bank-friendly price. So okay this coat might not be the most practical when it’s raining…which is a too common occurrence in England, however, it is perfect for when it’s freezing cold and I know I’ll be outside the majority of the day. Or I’m going somewhere with a cloakroom so I can take my coat off should I get to warm
and so I feel the benefit of it when I go outside.
So okay, a faux fur coat might not be the best decision for someone with curves as I do find that if I button it up it does make me appear bigger than what I am…but it’s a very rare occasion I do a coat up as I do prefer how it looks hanging open. However because of how warm it is
do I need to mention that again? I honestly couldn’t care less if it makes me look bigger than I am because I’m all snug and toasty.
For me New Look in particular have been killing it in the trouser department, and one pair I have been reaching for the most out of my ever-growing collection are these Black Check Tapered Trousers since they’re literally so easy to style, wear them with a jumper, a t-shirt or blouse for a casual look or you could easily dress these up for the evening time…plus you could totally rock these in the office. I always feel like an absolute girl boss whenever I wear these particular trousers.
They have zero fastenings and instead are elasticed around the back which means they’re super comfortable and leave plenty of room for a food baby. Since I have larger thighs, I typically would size up to a 12 for trousers, but with these a 10 fit like a dream and I’m still able to move around completely freely and not live in fear of my trousers splitting. Also despite only being 5’2 these fit perfectly in length and I roll them twice just to make them sit above my ankle bone (where I personally like my trousers to sit) but if I didn’t do this they’d sit nicely against the top of my foot.
Shop the trend
While I adore the Teddy Bear coat trend, I’m yet to jump on the band wagon…although I am eyeing up a particular teddy bear coat and I might just bite the bullet. It took zero convinsing for me to get this faux fur coat, not only is it incredibly warm but it’s also black which means it can be worn with just about anything you want.
Winter is fast approaching us and it’s important to prepare our wardrobes, I know most years I’m normally caught out by how suddenly cold it gets in what seems overnight. I refuse to be in this situation this year and instead, I am purchasing knitwear, trousers, and jackets regularly to restock all the items I donated to charity over the summer because I didn’t like them anymore or they didn’t suit me. Plus with bringing my blog into fashion-related content, I’d like to be able to share with you guys outfit posts which don’t just include items I’ve had for 3 or 4 years
even though some of my favourites are years old.
Are you loving the faux fur or teddy bear coat trend more?
Love you lots like jelly tots x
