Like everyone else when starting out a blog, I had the worst photography ever as despite owning a bridge camera I’d forgotten how to use it and instead decided to just use my iPhone camera…I’d like to hope that my photography skills have improved mildly since my first days.
Now if you read my blog back in the first few months you’ll probably know I was constantly changing the theme, or the header and I just never seemed to be happy with the way in which it looked, until I finally invested in a Pipdig theme (aka the on you can see right now). I was quick to purchase my own domain for my blog since I disliked having .blogspot.com after my blog name, it just looked messy to me. I think it was at that point that I realised just how much I did enjoy blogging and I wanted to make it a permanent hobby of mine. While it is still just a hobby of mine, it has made me more curious to take a dance journalism module at university, as I seem to love writing and being critical of things.
In the year that I’ve been blogging I’ve had over 11,500 page views which absolutely blows my mind as that works out as nearly 1000 every month. I still think it’s just me yapping away to maybe one or two people, but it appears that my audience has grown slightly in the past 12 months. Let’s not forget the fact that I have a social media following of over 7.6K in total which is just an insane amount, like do people actually enjoy me rambling about my favourite lipstick or my experiences of tinder dates, it just blows my mind. I don’t think I could ever come to terms with the fact that people actually do enjoy reading what I write, I still cry everytime someone says they like my blog…it means the blood, sweat and tears are paying off.
I’ve got to attend some amazing events since I’ve been blogging including: #BlogosphereChristmas, #BlogosphereValentines, Latest In Beauty – Beauty and the Beast box launch, Makeup Revolution third birthday, #BlogosphereCafe, and then I have two more events next week. I honestly cannot believe how lucky I’ve been to be invited/ allowed to attend to these events as I’ve met some amazing friends at them. Two girls, I’ve become increasingly close with are Debra Bow and Izzy Marie Hill, I love these two very much and I know they’re always around to listen to me rant about something I’ve seen on Twitter or the drama I’ve ended up stuck in the middle of.
This year has been an absolute rollercoaster ride and I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for both myself and my blog…either way I’m here to stay for a while, and I might eventually find my niche but until then I’m just going to write about what I want. It seems to be going well for me so far! Keep an eye out on my Twitter as I will be announcing a giveaway very soon (well as soon as I reach 100 likes on Facebook and 200 followers on Bloglovin)
If you’re a blogger let me know how long you’ve been blogging, and what is one thing you wish you’d done in your first year of blogging?
Love you lots like jelly tots x
