ELAN: ENERGY, STYLE AND ENTHUSIASM
Located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, Elan Cafe has become quite a popular spot for bloggers and influencers alike…as well as those just trying to get the perfect shot for the ‘gram. What better location to have lunch with someone I’d never previously met? Somewhere we can both bond over the stunning floral decorations, marble table tops and neon signs…let’s not forget the pastel pink chairs and copper quotes on the floor. Plus all the big white houses just a short walk away, the fashion blogger’s cliche photo background.
Now it’s not very often I write about food or restaurants, a place has to really catch my attention in order for me to do so (my last one being A Late Lunch At Mozzarella Joes). I was drawn to Elan after seeing it featured on some of my blogger friend’s Instagrams as well as the Instagrams of other bloggers, so when it came to meeting up with a new vlogger I suggested visiting Elan. While I was expecting it to be quite pricey (after all it is in Knightsbridge) but I didn’t realise it would cost me nearly £20 for a coffee and what was basically eggs Benedict. Sure it was super tasty…just a bit of a shock to the system.
We without a doubt when in during the lunchtime rush, the cafe was busy and it made taking cute photos even harder
blogger problems. We didn’t have to wait long to get served or to be bought our food and drink. I had a cappuccino with soya milk hell yeah to them doing soya milk along with what they call Burford Brown, which is poached eggs on an English muffin with hollandaise sauce…I also added on smoked salmon because homegirl loves smoked salmon. I’d love to go back and try something sweet from them and one of the smoothies.
While the food was tasty, it wasn’t anything exceptional and I’ve had a similar dish of the same quality at a Wetherspoons before for a quarter of the price…doesn’t mean I won’t go back though. It’s worth it just for the photos you can take and the novelty of dining in Knightsbridge.
This is the first place I’ve visited that has been popular on Instagram and it’s got me wanting to visit Peggy Porschen, Farm Girl Cafe and Soho Grind. Sure the food was only average but the experience alone was worth it, while I’ve explored London to an extent there’s still so much I’m yet to see. With just over 3 months left living in London, I want to try and get out as much as possible…even if it means damaging my bank balance slightly. While I’ve always loved exploring and experiencing new things I’ve always been slightly hesitant about going out of my comfort zone, but I’m slowly coming out of my shell even more and saying ‘yes’ to more opportunities.
Before visiting I’d heard mixed reviews about Elan but I was still extremely curious to check it out myself and I wasn’t disapointed, I’d figured out not to have too higher expectations for the food and it was more about the aesthetic and location…as well as doing it for the ‘gram.
